Pondering with Pastor Peter

1 Peter 1:13
“13 Therefore prepare your minds for action; discipline yourselves; set all your hope on the grace that Jesus Christ will bring you when he is revealed.”

In last month’s article with Pondering with Pastor Peter, we pondered together what then is yet to be revealed when it says in 1 John, “Beloved, we are God’s children now; what we will be has not yet been revealed?” I shared that I truly believe that what God has yet to reveal to us is our capacity for even greater depths of love and grace through even more radical welcome, full inclusion, and limitless generosity.

Reflecting on Youth Director Kayla’s & Council Vice-President Dave’s articles in this month’s newsletter, it is clear that God is beginning to reveal to us the actions we are being called to take. That is, we hear from Kayla that “attendance has grown”, the children are learning “who Jesus is and how much He loves them”, and that “they [continue] to bring light and joy into our church, reminding us that faith starts young and grows strong when nurtured.” Moreover, we see in Dave’s article that “the church office and library spaces are being reviewed for functional and aesthetic improvements.”

Let it be declared that from the youngest of God’s Lakeside saints to the oldest of God’s Lakeside disciples, we are preparing our minds for actions of love and grace by radically welcoming a re-envisioning of our work and meeting spaces, fully including children into the life of the congregation in and through worship and Sunday school, and limitlessly living out generosity with your increased giving.

We have set our hope on the grace that is found in Jesus Christ and are responding with faithful action. Bravo, Lakeside Community Lutheran Church and thanks be to God!

In hope and faith-filled action,
Pastor Peter
